UpfrontPoker is a poker study app with Claude as the coach. We're a small, bootstrapped team founded in 2026, building it now. Early access opens in small batches, starting with people on the list.
Why poker
Poker is decisions with missing information, a clock and pressure. That makes it one of the best places to practise how you think: counting outs against the price, reading what a player's bets mean, weighing every way a hand can go and judging decisions rather than luck.
What we're building
Practice hands against AI opponents with different styles, with play chips only. Before and after each decision, Claude explains the odds, what the bets mean and your plan for the next card, and you can ask it anything. Hands you played elsewhere can be pasted in for a coached review, and repeated mistakes become short drills. You can try the hand review today on the free hand review page.
Where Claude fits
Exact numbers (card counts, pot odds) come from code. Claude, Anthropic's AI model, accessed through the Anthropic API, does the reasoning and teaching: it explains decisions in plain words, adapts to the player you're facing and to your level, and always says what it's assuming. AI coaching can be wrong, which is why the assumptions are shown.
What we won't do
- No real-money gambling: no deposits, no cash-outs, no betting. Play chips only.
- No real-time help during real-money games. UpfrontPoker is for studying hands afterwards.
- No users under 18.
